Alert to U.S. Citizens: Philippine Election Day Security Awareness

The U.S. Embassy in Manila and Consular Agency in Cebu remind U.S. citizens in the Philippines that as we approach the local Barangay elections on Monday, October 30, 2023, increased political activities can be expected this weekend throughout the Philippines.

We recommend that you exercise heightened vigilance, as there is potential for increased violence during the two weeks preceding the release of election results. For your safety and security, avoid large crowds and gatherings.
